Ministry proposes 65 bln rbl support to car industry till 2025

MOSCOW, Aug 22 (PRIME) -- The Economic Development Ministry has suggested that state support of the car industry should be prolonged until 2025 at 65 billion rubles annually, but redirected to new technologies development, director of the industries development department Alexander Maslennikov said on Tuesday.

“Our goal is to change the approaches to regulation of the industry with state support maintained at the 2017 level of 65 billion rubles annually for the whole period of the strategy until 2025,” he said at a forum.

“We mean that the support needs to be transformed in support of new technologies, new directions. We are negotiating the matter with the Finance Ministry.”

He added that the program will focus on national scientific and engineering initiatives and new car technologies including autonomous driving.

The official also said that the government is likely to decide on a new investment regime for automakers to replace expiring assembly agreements in September.
